The design of the Mondaine “Official Swiss Railway Watch” was based on the Swiss Railway Station Clock created in1944 by Hans Hilfiker and was further developed by Mondaine in 1986 into the Swiss Railway Big Date Watch that we know today. So iconic is the design, that the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum in London have selected it as one of the most outstanding examples of 20th century design.

The design features an elegant, easy to read black face with clear black hour and minute hands and dial markings. The Mondaine red pendulum second hand, allows you to be accurate to the second and easily contrasts with the white face. It also has an extremely well-designed Big Date calendar, a black leather strap with nubuck lining and a stainless steel buckle.

The watch is made entirely from recycled brass, and the accurate Swiss made quartz movement sits in a 30mm case with mineral glass for ladies or a 33mm case with mineral glass for gents. It is also water resistant to 30 meters, has a manufacturer’s two year guarantee, and is beautifully presented in a stylish gift box, making it an ideal gift.
