Since first being introduced into Europe from South Africa in the seventeenth century, Agapanthus have continued to charm gardeners with their rounded, characteristic flowerheads made up of masses of tubular, bell-shaped flowers upon strong stems above strap-shaped leaves. It will not surprise many to hear that the translation of their name, originally derived from Greek, means love (agape) flower (anthos).
Agapanthus, or Lily of the Nile, add an exotic touch to any planting scheme or patio container bringing dramatic flowers in mid to late summer. These sun-loving perennials enjoy a fertile, moist but well-drained soil.
Choose from three varieties: Agapanthus albus- shows pure white, funnel-shaped flowers and height approx. 90cm Agapanthus Pinnocchio- has dwarf habit with height of just 60cm, with violet blue flowers with darker ribs. Agapanthus Blue Triumphator- produces clear blue flowers on robust stems up to 90cm high in late summer.
Supplied in packs of 3 plants, buy one of the above varieties for £8.95. Buy all three varieties (9 plants in total) for £17.90 and save £8.95. Prices include p&p. Plants are supplied as bare roots from November onwards.
